Going to the John's
A lot has been going on in the political spectrum. George Bush nominated John Roberts to the Supreme Court, filling a position left open by Sanda Day O'Connor. John is a practicing Roman Catholic, and it will be interesting to see how his belief system and his postion of authority intersect.
Bush also made a recess appointment of John Bolton to be ambassador to the United Nations. Mr. Bolton is a man after my own heart. He dislikes the UN greatly and sees it as a den of corruption. I think that Mr. Bolton is the perfect man for this job. Hopefully he will be able to swing some changes over there.
All in all, Bush is working political magic. Democrats everywhere hate his every move, and yet he continues to succeed at getting his men in the positions he wants them in. Democrats are appearing more and more as "obstructionist" by filibustering Bolton's nomination, and delaying the conformation of Roberts.
On a side note, I'm never going to say that the Kingdom of God is somehow connected to America. However, these political victories - no matter how small - are being accomplished by a man who tries earnestly to pursue straight paths. Does that make our president perfect? By no means. It does mean, though, that Christians should back his policy decisions that don't go against the word of God. Being that the Democratic party consistantly lines up with policies that are anti-God in nature, they deserve to be stopped at all costs. There is no middle ground. God is light - in him there is no darkness. These issues are Black and White.
