The Ron Paul Litmus Test

I have been reading around on various blogs and news articles about the Ron Paul litmus test for libertarians. While I don't doubt that a person can be a libertarian and not agree 100% with Ron Paul, the greater question is why a libertarian wouldn't endorse Ron Paul.

Politics in America has been a two party system for quite some time now. There hasn't been a break in the current platforms for over twenty years. Ron Paul, flaws and all, offers a chance to reverse the current trend to bring our country back to the way it ought to be.

I think Ron Paul is a litmus test. This is an opportunity to elect a Libertarian to America's highest office. These opportunities don't come along very often. To pass it up because he isn't your flavor of Libertarian is a vote for the bankruptcy of America. I would even extend this charge to say that if you find another candidate more appealing and deserving of your vote, perhaps you ought examine your claim to Libertarianism.

Like it or not, Ron Paul has become the face of Libertarianism in America. If you support the politics, support the man.
